Our Infant Program

A Nurturing Start to Your Child’s Journey

Where Loving Care Meets Early Development

Welcome to the Wonderland Infant Classroom—where your precious newborn begins their educational journey in an environment designed specifically for their unique developmental needs. Our Infant Program serves babies from 6 weeks through 15 months, providing responsive, individualized care that supports healthy development during these critical early months.

The first year of life is extraordinary. Your baby is growing rapidly, developing new skills every day, and forming the secure attachments that will shape their entire future. At Wonderland Children’s Academy, we understand the profound responsibility of caring for infants. That’s why we’ve designed our Infant Program around the latest research in early childhood development and the simple truth that babies thrive when they feel safe, loved, and understood.

Our Philosophy: Responsive, Individualized Care

Every baby is unique. They have their own temperament, their own preferences, and their own developmental timeline. Our Infant Program honors this individuality through responsive, relationship-based care.

What does responsive care mean? It means that when your baby cries, we respond. When they smile, we smile back. When they’re ready to eat, we feed them. When they’re tired, we help them rest. We’re not following a rigid schedule—we’re following your baby’s cues and meeting their needs with warmth, consistency, and genuine affection.

This approach isn’t just comforting for your baby. It’s essential for healthy development. Responsive caregiving builds secure attachment, which is the foundation for emotional health, resilience, and the ability to learn and grow. When babies experience consistent, responsive care, they learn that the world is safe, that their needs matter, and that they can trust the adults in their lives.

Our Infant Classroom Environment

We’ve carefully designed our Infant Classroom to be a calm, soothing space where babies feel secure and supported. The environment reflects what we know about how infants learn and develop.

A Home-Like Atmosphere. Our classroom resembles a relaxing home environment rather than an institutional setting. Soft lighting, gentle colors, and familiar furniture create a sense of warmth and comfort. We have comfortable cribs for safe sleep, cozy rocking chairs for feeding and cuddle time, and soft play areas where babies can explore safely.

Safe Spaces for Exploration. As babies grow and develop motor skills, they need safe spaces to practice rolling, reaching, crawling, and eventually walking. Our classroom is thoughtfully arranged to encourage exploration while keeping babies safe. Age-appropriate toys are within reach, and our staff is always nearby to support and celebrate each new milestone.

Sensory-Rich Experiences. Infants learn about the world through their senses. We provide a variety of textures, sounds, and visual experiences that engage babies’ developing brains. Soft toys, mirrors, high-contrast images, and safe objects to explore all support sensory development.

Individual Spaces for Personal Items. Each baby has their own cubby for personal items, diapers, and comfort objects from home. This helps babies feel secure and helps our staff stay organized and responsive to each child’s individual needs.

Our Approach to Infant Development

While infants don’t sit at desks or complete worksheets, they’re learning constantly. Every interaction, every experience, and every moment of responsive care supports their development. Our Infant Program supports growth across multiple developmental domains:

Attachment & Social-Emotional Development

The most important work we do in the Infant Classroom is building secure attachments. Babies need to know that they’re safe, that their needs will be met, and that the adults caring for them are trustworthy and responsive.

We build attachment through:
Consistent caregivers. Whenever possible, the same caregivers work with the same babies, creating continuity and deepening relationships.
Responsive interactions. We respond promptly to babies’ cries, coos, and gestures, showing them that their communication matters.
Loving touch. Holding, rocking, cuddling, and gentle touch are essential parts of our daily routine.
Eye contact and facial expressions. We make frequent eye contact, smile at babies, and respond to their expressions, creating a dance of connection.
Narration and conversation. We talk to babies throughout the day, describing what we’re doing and what they’re experiencing.
